Amble through rolling countryside, taking in historical sites, parklands and forests with this autumnal Moved hike.
Meeting at Chilham train station at 10:30 am, we’ll skirt alongside Chilham Lake before making our way out into the beautiful landscape of the Kent Downs — tinged golden with its autumn colours. Navigating hilly terrain, we’ll pass by landmarks including Stump Shave, Blue Downs and Godmersham Park, eventually making our way northwards again to Chilham Castle, nestled in the historic village.
The trail can be challenging in places — especially after heavy rain — so it’s recommended that you wear good, sturdy hiking boots that you don’t mind getting muddy. And, as always, be prepared for wet weather on the day!
We’ll have plenty of opportunities to picnic in the picturesque fields along the route, so bring a packed lunch with you. And be sure to carry at least 2 litres of water since refreshment stops will be few, if any, along the way.
