Welcome the winter season with sweeping coastal views on this late-November Moved hike around Folkestone.
Meeting at Folkestone Central Station at 10:30 am, we’ll head for the shoreline, which we’ll follow towards East Cliff, then up onto the famous hills for expansive views out to sea. Once up high, the trail traces the clifftop, circling back around and down into Folkestone. We then head west along the seafront, past Victorian-era Lower Lees Coastal Park and onwards towards Sandgate. Once we reach Sandgate Castle, we’ll cut inland to loop back around through the upper trails of the Coastal Park before dipping back down into vibrant Folkestone for our finish.
The East Cliff portion of the trail is, as the name suggests, a little hilly. It may also be muddy and slippery up on the slopes in winter, so hiking boots are recommended. And, as always, be prepared for wet weather on the day!
We’ll have plenty of opportunities for a picnic with a view. So, bring a packed lunch with you (or we can grab some chips en route!) and be sure to carry at least a litre of water.
Once in Folkestone, there’s the option to top off the hike with a drink or bite to eat on the lively Harbour Arm.
