Welcome the winter season with sweeping coastal views on this late-November Moved hike from Dover to Folkestone.
Meeting at Dover train station at 10:30 am, we’ll head for the Saxon Shore Way, which we’ll follow up onto the famous white cliffs for expansive views out to sea. Once up there, the trail undulates gently along the clifftops, offering a relatively easy amble until we dip down into vibrant Folkstone for our finish.
The trails down can be a little steep. So those with knee complaints may want to bring hiking poles for this last part. It may also be muddy and slippery up on the slopes after rain. So it’s recommended that you wear good, sturdy hiking boots that you don’t mind getting dirty. And, as always, be prepared for wet weather on the day!
We’ll have plenty of opportunities for a picnic with a view. So bring a packed lunch with you and be sure to carry at least a litre of water.
Once in Folkestone, there’s the option to top off the hike with a drink of food at one of the lovely local pubs. If you’d like to do so, let me know so that I can book a table for us.
