Faversham to Herne Bay 30km

Join us on a glorious stretch of the Kent coastline, beginning in the historic, pastel-hued town of Faversham. Meeting at 11 am at Faversham train station, we’ll wander through the town until we meet the Stour estuary footpath — framed with pretty cow parsley. We’ll follow the river until it joins the sea, with the Isle of Sheppey in view across the water.

Following the England Coast Path, we’ll pass through quintessential Kentish seaside town of Seasalter, then on through Whitstable — famed for its oysters! Colourful beach huts line the coast as we hike on past Tankerton Slopes and Swalecliffe. Then, as Hampton comes into view, we’ve almost reached our destination. Herne Bay appears just around the bend, then it’s homeward bound.

Bring 2 litres of water and some snacks — also lunch if you like. There will be opportunity to stop and grab coffee and food in Faversham or Whitstable, though.
