Meeting in the town of Otford, we’ll head west along Kent’s absolutely gorgeous North Downs Way. It’s a mostly gentle, hilly route through countryside, patches of woodland and farmland, offering beautiful views across Kent if the weather’s kind.

We’ll pass through a little hamlet, up onto the ridge of the Downs for sweeping views of the Surrey Hills, and past lots of ‘kissing gates’, eventually winding our way into the pretty town of Oxted, where there are plenty of pubs if we fancy a post-walk sit to wind down.

The route is rural and, at this time of year, likely muddy. So bring waterproof hiking boots and jacket, 2 litres of water, snacks and lunch.
